The real problem is that mainstream Anglo-American management regards management as a technical practice like engineering. From this perspective design thinking is just another tool in the toolbox. This is the perspective Iskander is talking about. As you suggest, design thinking doesn’t have to be seen in that way. What is needed is a quite different viewpoint of management as a moral practice with managers as gardeners rather than just engineers.
