Thanks again Dennis, The Cartesian mindset is not so much immoral as amoral. At the root is the belief that the only true knowledge results from the application of the values-free, scientific method in a subject-object relationship that objectifies the world (including people). This is techne. As you point out, phronesis involves values — a consideration of what is good or bad for humankind.
